In the second half of the 19th century, a movement arose in England that found a wide response throughout the world and spread to America. It influenced the formation of artistic culture and even the work of the brilliant Frank Lloyd Wright. It was called "Arts and Crafts" and existed until the First World War. As well as the whole amazing cultural take-off, which ended in the loss of faith in the humanistic mission of mankind. The meaning of "Arts and Crafts" was, in general, to enhance the artistic taste, the aesthetics of industrial products. Now this is expressed in industrial design of an impersonal global scale. And in those days, handicraft, folklore influence was still strongly felt.
The tour passes through the castle-palace, museum, craft workshops, created thanks to the efforts of the enthusiast "Arts and Crafts" Henry Mercer. It is difficult to find as many diverse examples of decorative and applied arts as there are per unit of space here. First of all, these are wonderful ceramics, tiles, tiles, which are also produced here. But also stained glass, painting, lithography, sculpture.
The history of the Moravian Brothers completes the tour. One of the most vibrant and active denominations is an important part of America's grandiose Protestant mosaic. At the site of the excursion, the community of the Moravian Brethren manifests itself even now with a unique ceramic workshop, whose products, thanks to Henry Mercer, have become popular throughout the country. Nearby is a bohemian village, where many art galleries are housed in original buildings.
The tour concludes with a colorful shopping area of old houses among flower beds and flower beds, where there are a lot of art products, souvenirs and unusual goods.
